Many today believe that there is simply nothingness after we die. The Bible is very clear however that there is life after death and that dying is simply a transition from this world as we know it to life eternal. In otherwords although this mortal body dies, our spirits live on eternally. The Bible is also very clear that we will live this eternal existence in one of two places, either Heaven  or Hell.

So, how do you get to heaven? What makes you good enough to go there? If you ask most people this question they would say: "Well if you do more good things than bad things while here on earth you are probably good enough for God to let into Heaven." The Bible is clear that you can't amass enough good deeds along the way to out weigh the bad deeds. In other words the one does not cancel out the other.  The only path to eternity with God is through His Son, Jesus Christ. The Bible says:

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God. (Romans 3:23)

This means everyone, you and I alike have all missed the mark. The Bible also tells us:

God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16)

that whoever believes in Him (Jesus) should not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16)

This tells us that Jesus died in order that we could gain forgiveness for our sins. The Bible goes on to say this:

The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. (1 John 5: 10-13).

So what is it that we need to do to receive this forgiveness? The Bible says:

If we confess our sins, He (God) is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1:9)
